Merry Christmas! Our 38th episode is about holiday Folklore! Ho Ho Ho! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! SIKE! It’s actually really scary. You all are familiar with Santy Claws, St. Nicholas, that bearded belly laughing red wearing jolly fellow. But did you know that there are a number of spooky characters that also exist around this joyous season. They work less on the whole “positive reinforcement” tactics of giving gifts to good kids and more on the “terrify kids into behaving tactic” by threatening them with death, usually a death caused from being eaten by a monster, to keep kids in line.
Talking Points: Positive Reinforcement, Jolly St. Nick, Eaten By a Monster, Fear Tactic, The Most Horrifying Time of the Year, Frau Perchta, Yule Cat, Fashion Game, Eat Kids, Cannibalism Problem, Hansel and Gretel, Gryla, Zwarte Piet, Black Peter, Hans Trapp, Juggalos, Mummers Parade, Krampus Ball, Krampus Parade, Sticks, Racism, Jack in the Box, Gingerbread, Toni Collette, Wrestling Krampus.
